want to read variable for the file
Hi,

i have one file which has list of data like this
Code:
xemp  42
yeet   87
wax  223
dyne  442

i want to read each of in for loop from the script
can you give me syntax

Maybe take a while loop instead:
Code:
while read LINE; do
     echo $LINE
done < infile

For completeness a for loop:
Code:
for a in "`cat infile`"; do
     echo "$a"
done

# 3

several rows
to get the columns in a variable each:

Code:
while read R1 R2 ; do
     echo "${R1} ${R2}"
done < infile

or read every line into an array:

Code:
while read -a A ; do
     echo "${A[0]} ${A[1]}"
done < infile
