How to get a list of files in a dir w/o sub-directories?
Hi
I am looking for the correct syntax to find all files in the current directory without listing sub-directoris. I was using the following command, but it still returns subdirectoris and files inside them:
$ ls -laR | grep -v ^./

Any idea? Thanks

PS I am in ksh88

or if you don't want tro see the subdirecties

You can use find command,

find . -type f -maxdepth 1

One way. This method deliberately excludes non-files such as directories. There are better methods using "find" but we'd need to know what Operating System you have.

Code:
ls -1d * 2>/dev/null | while read filename
do
        if [ -f "${filename}" ]
        then
                ls -ald "${filename}"
        fi
done

# 5

I am on 2 machines one has AIX operating system and another SunOS
