There is a problem with the script :
Code:
awk 'END { print min, "at line" ,s}
{
  min || min = $1
  s || s = NR
  if ($1 < min) {min=$1; s=NR}
  }' inputfile

when the input file contains the value 0 :
Code:
94.971
101.468
73.120
0.0
100.601
102.329

The result is
Code:
100.601 at line 4

instead of
Code:
0.0 at line 4

A new version of the script :
Code:
awk 'END { print min, "at line" ,s}
NR==1 {
  min = $1;
  s   = NR;
  next;
}
{
  if ($1 < min) {min=$1; s=NR}
  }' inputfile

I'm working on a project at the Technical University of Denmark! I have just started learning unix and needed to pick the minimum value from a dataset of 100.000 scores of protein structures that I generated using Rosetta!
There is no teaching or homework in Denmark during the summer holidays :)
