Hello forum,

I need help with a script for displaying the number of instances/times a particular line appears in a tab-delimited file and append that number to the end of the line.

Example text file:

aaa bbb ccc ddd
ggg hhh kkk nnn
aaa bbb ccc ddd
aaa bbb ccc ddd
ppp qqq nnn sss
ggg hhh kkk nnn

Desired output:

Code:

aaa bbb ccc ddd 3
ggg hhh kkk nnn 2
ppp qqq nnn sss 1

Thanks for your help. I think uniq -c gives the count but can't integrate that to this format.
