Question if [ "variable" = "numerical-range" ]; then

been a while so i'm a bit rusty and need a little help. writing a script that needs to compare $EXECHOST(a number) against a numerical range and then set a value. below isn't working but should give you folks an idea of my goal:

Code:
if [ "$EXECHOST" = "7132-7151" ]; then
echo "This is a 32B machine, exiting..."
        if [ "$EXECHOST" = "7152-7163" ]; then
        NCPU=2
                if [ "$EXECHOST" = "7164-7170" ]; then
                NCPU=4
                        if [ "$EXECHOST" = "7171-7175 ]; then
                        NCPU=8
                                if [ "$EXECHOST" = "7176-7180" ]; then
                                NCPU=16
                                fi
                        fi
                fi
        fi
fi

i certainly appreciate any help anyone can provide. thanx in advance!

elif [ $EXECHOST -ge 7152] && [ $EXECHOST -le 7163 ]

Something like this:

Code:

if [ $EXECHOST -ge 7132 -a  $EXECHOST -le 7151 ];

# 5
Old 06-16-2010
Code:
for i in 7151:0 7163:2 7170:4 7175:8 7180:16; do
    [ $EXECHOST -le ${i%:*} ] && { NCPU=${i#*:}; break; }
done

[ $NCPU == 0 ] && echo "This is a 32B machine, exiting..."
