replace ' with '

Hello all i am trying to replace ' with '
and i am trying like this
Code:
sed 's/'/'/g' test.xml

my test.xml has
Code:
<mytag> ' </mytag>

and i need output like
Code:
<mytag> &apos;</mytag>

i tried many permutation combination of / " ' but did not get through any idea what i am missing here (syntax) ?
right now i am running it from command line only.

i tried this but after this command my prompt looks like

and my best guess is i am missing here any syntax

I get a text file with 70+ columns (seperated by Tab) and about 10000 rows. The 58th Column is all numbers. But sometimes 58th columns has "/xxx=##" after the numeric data. I want to truncate this string using the script. Any Ideas...:confused: (3 Replies)
