Problem using 'Case' statement
Hi,

When I execute the below script, I am getting the error as

Code:
' is not expected.ror at line 3 : `in


Code:
#!/bin/sh
case $1 in
  -r) echo Force deletion without confirmation ;;
  -i) echo Confirm before deleting ;;
   *) echo Unknown argument ;;
esac


I could not see any problem with the code as far as I verified the syntax.

Please help me to resolve it.

Note: I am a UNIX learner.

The short answer is don't edit your scripts on Windows. Windows uses carriage returns at the end of each text line and that confuses the shell which expects only line-feeds.

Remove the CR (^M) which is just after the "in".
