Shell script
Hi,

i want to create one script for comparing current log no. from oracle archive folder to logs in another folder.

1. first folder /oracle/SQ2/oraarch
2. 2nd folder /oracle/SQ2/sapdata1/backup

i have created script but it is not workign fine.
Code:
cd /oracle/SQ2/oraarch
a123=".gz"
while true
      do
          j=`ls -rt /oracle/SQ2/oraarch | tail -1|cut -c 10-14`

      for i in *.dbf
          do
          k = `ls $i | cut -c 10-14`
          echo $k
          if [ -f /oracle/SQ2/sapdata1/backup/$i ]  ||
             [ -f /oracle/SQ2/sapdata1/backup/$i$a123 ] ||
             [ -f /oracle/SQ2/sapdata1/backup/bkup2/$i$a123 ]

        if test $j = $k

in this script i am trying to compare value of j and k but i am not getting any output.

please help me out in above script.

If the value of j and k are strings use below and try

if [[ ${j} == ${k} ]]; then

it is giving me following error

Syntax error at line 17 : `==' is not expected.

i am not getting from following code line

k = `ls $i | cut -c 10-14`
echo $k
# 4

Try to run the script in debug mode, add this line after the shebang:
