MySQL MaxAuthTries in sshd_config

Quote:
MaxAuthTries
Specifies the maximum number of authentication attempts permitted per connection. Once the number of failures reaches half this value, additional failures are logged. The default is 6.
I am not able to determine if the above setting is for outgoing or incoming connections. I do not have the rights to change it on my system to try this out. Anyone can help shed some light on this?

Thank you.

Since it's in the sshd_config, it applies only to the daemon. And the daemon only handles incoming connections and couldn't care less about outgoing connections.
