No Sir.
I will again send you the code i used and errors after that.
Remember the folder which i want to delete from path /home/uat, this path also contains some other folders like os+n and many other folders for which the permissions are denied.
Below is the code i used
Code:
dir=`date +%Y-%m-%d --date='1 day ago'`
find /home/uat -depth -type d -name "$dir" -exec rm -vrf {} \;

error message below:
Quote:
find: /home/uat/os+n: Permission denied
removed directory: `/home/uat/2010-03-21'

Sorry, you are right, it is caused by the code I posted, but the error is not in the code.

You are trying to do something you are not allowed to do, therefore you get an error message. Unless you specifically exclude all the directories you do not have permission to enter, or change their permissions, you will get that error. That's why you should use 2>/dev/null.

From the output, I see that the directory is directly under /home/aut/; if that is always the case, you don't need to use find.

If the directory's location is known, delete it directly:
Code:
dir=`date +%Y-%m-%d --date='1 day ago'`
rm -rf "/home/uat/$dir"
