Unzip files without overwriting

Hi,
1)I have two zip files a.zip and b.zip.
a.zip contains the files a.txt,b.txt and c.txt
b.zip contains the files a.txt,b.txt,d.txt,e.txt

Though some of the filenames in a.zip and b.zip are same, the size is different,i.e., the files are completely different even though their name is same.

What my program does is it completely unzips the files and overwrites the existing files without checking the cksum or the size.

Is there anyway we can check the cksum and then overwrite it if it's the duplicate file?

Thanks,
Don

How about unzipping a.zip and b.zip into new, temporary directories then looping through each file in each temp directory to combine into the destination. Then delete the temporary directories.

Alternatively, use zcat or unzip -p to access the compress stream of the file inside the zip file and decompress if different. No more efficient and more complex to do it this way I think.
