Reading a file by using particular word.

hi,

I have a doubt in reading a file by using particular word.

My requirement is that, i have one file and from that file, when ever i found "alter", that whole line i have to take it and send it to SQL Prompt.
My file looks like below.

Code:
Enter value for schema_nmae: QAEVO_B1
old 1: select 'alter system kill session '||''''||sid||','||serial#||''''||';'
 from v$session where username=upper('&Schema_Nmae')
new 1: select 'alter system kill session '||''''||sid||','||serial#||''''||';'
 from v$session where username=upper('QAEVO_B1')

alter system kill session '225,3495';
alter system kill session '244,43694';
alter system kill session '257,2615';
alter system kill session '264,8987';
alter system kill session '309,34366';
alter system kill session '313,19740';

6 rows selected.

the whole method i want to put it in the loop.

Please help me asap.

Try:

Code:
grep '^alter' < infile >out_file.sql
sqlplus user/pass@database @out_file.sql
