hi all,
i have a big problem with my perl script based on http://perl.about.com/od/perltutorials/a/perllogrotate.htm

Code:
#!/usr/bin/perl
use POSIX 'strftime';
$log_path = '/opt/sysagent/';
chdir $log_path;
$log_archive_logfile = strftime("%Y-%m-%d.log", localtime);
$log_archive_logzip = "$log_archive_logfile.tar.gz";
system "tar -cf $log_archive_logzip $log_archive_logfile";

this script make only one tar.gz with last log file (2010-01-13.log.tar.gz), you can save the last 3 logs (2010-01-13.log, 2010-01-12.log, 2010-01-11.log)?

You can try logrotate(8) - Linux man page to rotate the log files.

I cannot install logrotate, I would have already solved :-(
