How to "select all" on X from within a script?
Hi,

Some very knowledgeable people around here. I'd appreciate help with.

I'm trying to work on a script that uses Xsel to get the X-selection, Manipulate the value by the script, and set the X-selection to the new value. - This part works fine

I would like to add a "default", so that if the selection is empty (i.e. nothing is currently selected, or marked by the mouse ) - then select the whole line where the cursor is. (and than continue doing the normal things the script would do.


Hmmm. As usual I managed to make a simple question sound complicated.

Here is the short and simple version (I hope):
How do I change the X-selection from withing a script? (not the value of the selection, but what is selected. or where the selection starts and where it ends (in my case the beginning and end of the line)

Hu! as if that is any clearer...

Oh well, I hope somebody manages to understand what I'm asking. And if that somebody also happens to know an answer, that would be even greater!

NAME

       Tcl_AllowExceptions - allow all exceptions in next script evaluation

SYNOPSIS

       #include <tcl.h>

       Tcl_AllowExceptions(interp)

ARGUMENTS

       Tcl_Interp *interp (in)		Interpreter in which script will be evaluated.

DESCRIPTION

       If  a  script is evaluated at top-level (i.e. no other scripts are pending evaluation when the script is invoked), and if the script termi-
       nates with a completion code other than TCL_OK, TCL_ERROR or TCL_RETURN, then Tcl normally converts this into a TCL_ERROR  return  with	an
       appropriate  message.  The particular script evaluation procedures of Tcl that act in the manner are Tcl_EvalObjEx, Tcl_EvalObjv, Tcl_Eval,
       Tcl_EvalEx, Tcl_GlobalEval, Tcl_GlobalEvalObj, Tcl_VarEval and Tcl_VarEvalVA.

       However, if Tcl_AllowExceptions is invoked immediately before calling one of those a procedures, then arbitrary completion codes  are  per-
       mitted from the script, and they are returned without modification.  This is useful in cases where the caller can deal with exceptions such
       as TCL_BREAK or TCL_CONTINUE in a meaningful way.
