Awk help

Hi there,

I have an awk script that pulls data out from an iostat -xne which works fine and dandy. I have now been asked to map the device name, say md38, to an oracle file. See output below.

Script Output.
Quote:
0.0 1.1 0.1 9.1 0.0 0.4 0.0 311.0 0 1 0 0 0 0 4/md38
0.1 0.1 0.5 0.5 0.0 0.0 0.0 236.5 0 0 0 0 0 0 4/md37
0.4 0.5 3.1 4.3 0.0 0.2 0.0 218.8 0 1 0 0 0 0 4/md78
58.0 15.3 847.2 92.3 0.4 1.4 5.3 19.3 0 25 0 0 0 0 c4t600C0FF000000000084AED64A24AFC03d0
58.0 15.3 846.9 92.3 0.0 0.4 0.7 5.5 0 19 0 0 0 0 c4t600C0FF000000000084B8A392FAA1003d0
Directory listing from oradata

Quote:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 oracle dba 27 Mar 8 2005 users_01.dbf -> /dev/md/racdata-ds/rdsk/d38
I now need to combine the 2 so we get the MD name and the oracle file name as well as all the stats.

So kind of like this

Quote:
0.0 1.1 0.1 9.1 0.0 0.4 0.0 311.0 0 1 0 0 0 0 4/md38 users_01.dbf

Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers

You can do something like that :
Code:
ls -l oracle_dir > ls.dat
my_iostat_script |
awk '
   NR==FNR && $(NF-2) == "->" {
      n = split($NF, d, /\//);
      dbf["m" d[n]] = $(NF-2)
      next;
   }
   $NF ~ /\// {
      n = split($NF, d, /\//);
      if (d[n] in dbf) $0 = $0 OFS dbf[d[n]];
   }
   1
' ls.dat -

use gawk , /usr/xpg4/bin/awk or nawk
Code:
nawk  '
NR==FNR {a[$NF]=$0 ;  next }
$16 in a {print a[$16],$9}
' FS="/m" file1.txt FS="(/| )" file2.txt > output.txt

where file1.txt:-

0.0 1.1 0.1 9.1 0.0 0.4 0.0 311.0 0 1 0 0 0 0 4/md38
0.1 0.1 0.5 0.5 0.0 0.0 0.0 236.5 0 0 0 0 0 0 4/md37
0.4 0.5 3.1 4.3 0.0 0.2 0.0 218.8 0 1 0 0 0 0 4/md78
58.0 15.3 847.2 92.3 0.4 1.4 5.3 19.3 0 25 0 0 0 0 c4t600C0FF000000000084AED64A24AFC03d0

file2.txt

lrwxrwxrwx 1 oracle dba 27 Mar 8 2005 users_01.dbf -> /dev/md/racdata-ds/rdsk/d38

and output.txt will be :-
0.0 1.1 0.1 9.1 0.0 0.4 0.0 311.0 0 1 0 0 0 0 4/md38 users_01.dbf

---------- Post updated at 16:45 ---------- Previous update was at 16:18 ----------

or vice versa:-

code:-
Code:
nawk '
NR==FNR {a[$16]=$9 ;  next }
{ r=($NF in a) ? $0 " " a[$NF] : $0 ; print r}
' FS="(/| )" file2.txt FS="/m" file1.txt > output.txt

Code:
file1.txt & file2.txt same as before

output.txt will be:-

0.0 1.1 0.1 9.1 0.0 0.4 0.0 311.0 0 1 0 0 0 0 4/md38 users_01.dbf
0.1 0.1 0.5 0.5 0.0 0.0 0.0 236.5 0 0 0 0 0 0 4/md37
