I have another problem with ps results.

I need to sort output now by the CMD - UID - PID table

but

ps -Af | sort -b -k8 -b -k1 -k2 doesn't work korrectly, exactly with comm field.

For example ps -Af | sort -b -k1 work perfect

but

ps - Af | sort -b -k8 - don't

... Can anybody help me?

ok - the problem here is that you are including the STIME field which is sometimes parsed as one field (e.g. 13:53:41) and sometimes two ( e.g. Nov 16 ). Hance sometimes you want field 8, sometimes field 7...

Also - if you're going to sort on field 2 you need to specify numeric ordering, rather than alpha ordering...

One (very) hacky solution should be:

#  ps -Af | tail -30 |  awk '{print substr($0,1,30)" "substr($0,31,length($0))}' | sort -k8 -k1 -k2n

which forces an extra space in the 7 field lines, but not on the 8...

Ok, but it doesn't work too and i need all process not only last 30

Anything else solutions?
