Hello, can you please tell how can i find files that contains string 200911*ama
I need to parse a lot of logs to find the string 200911(somethinghere)ama
Im trying grep -R '200911*ama' /path/logs but it is still searching

still searching ?

If it searches for a long time, might be your log file is so large.. Let it do, you will get the result after some time.

I am having a similar problem - if I should post a new topic, please let me know.

I am looking for a string inside a file, where the file name exists under several subdirectories. I'm currently trying: grep -r stringinfile filename

I thought that the -r will search recursively for filename under all subdirectories, then look for stringinfile inside filename.

Am I close?
