gcc source in C language:WHERE I FIND THEM??

Hi, sorry for my english,
i want to find the C-sources of the compiler gcc because i must create a compiler for an educational architecture made by my information technology professor. He told me that i must start from this sources, compile the gcc with them (pratically "auto-compile" the compiler, to test the sources) and than modify them to made my compiler.
So, if i find "gcc c sources" on the web i can't find what i really need. Have you got any solution??
Please help me.Thanks again

Search for 'gcc'
Click the first result
On the right side, click on Mirror sites
Pick a mirror near you, navigate to the /releases/gcc-4.4.2 directory, and download either gcc-4.4.2.tar.bz2 or gcc-4.4.2.tar.gz
Unpack, configure, make, enjoy
