Kill script discussion

Does anybody got an idea to write a script to kill a long list of processes automatic?
I got try this:
Code:
 ps -ef | grep 'my_name'

After that, I used the "kill -9 PID".
It seems like quite inefficient if I got a long list of processes need to terminate or kill it Smilie
Thanks a lot for any suggestion Smilie

Example:

Code:
ps -fu jupp| awk '{print $2}'| xargs kill

Kills all processes of the user "jupp".

Usually I check what processes I get back when doing ps -ef or -fu or whatever before I admit a kill/kill -9 on them so I don't accidentally kill a bit too much.
Also always try kill 1st, then kill -9 so processes get a chance to clean up resources.
