if you don't have /usr/xpg4/bin/awk modify my code to the below and use gawk

Code:
gawk '{for (i=1;i<=NF;i++){a[i]+=$i;b[i]++ ; if(nf <= NF) {nf=NF}  } }

END{printf "Avrg  " ; for (i=1;i<=nf;i++) {printf "%s %s",a[i]/b[i],( i <= nf ) ? " " : "\n" } print "" }
'   file.txt

Something like this:

Code:

awk -v max=0 'max < $2 { max=$2 ;row=$0 ;next } END { print "max=" max "\n" row }' input_file
