Java how to read the contents of a file using PERL

Hi

My requirement is to read the contents of a fixed length file and validate the same.

But am not able to read the contents of the file and when i tried it to print i get <blank> as an output...

I used the below satatements for printing the contents

open(INPFILE,"/data/sample.txt");
while($line = <INPFILE>) {
print ": $_";
}

can anyone help me on how to read the file contents using perl...

foreach (<INPFILE>) {
print ": $_";
}

Thanks for the quick response...but it error outs as below

A file or directory in the path name does not exist

Check to make sure the file /data/sample.txt actually exists and you have permission to read it. If that isn't the file you are trying to read, replace it with the actual file. Also, make sure to close the file when you are done with it by using the statement:

close INPFILE;
