Shell Programming and Scripting

Hope you enjoy the summer.
I am stock after one day working, the problems are the following:

1) I want to write a for loop in a shell script code that has a double precision step as:

#!/bin/bash

START=0.00001
STOP=0.001


for((i = START ; i< STOP ; i=2*i)) do
echo "$i"
done

It simply does not work, although it works when the numbers are integer.
Why it does not work for the double precisions?
How one can make it work?

2) How one can print out by echo double precision numbers?

I would be very tankful if you advice me !

Use ksh in script, include more nice things for scripts.
