That is not perl. It is just the name of the current directory.

Code:
Just change the 1 line in script from

j='/home/log/${$NODE}/alert${NODE}.log home/log/${NODE}/evmd/evmd.log'

to

j="/home/log/${NODE}/alert${NODE}.log home/log/${NODE}/evmd/evmd.log"
