getting backup of a copy
Hi,

I wrote a script file file1.sh
Mistakenly I have copied some other file contents to this file,
cp a.sh file1.sh

is there any way to recover the original contents of the file1.sh.


plz let me know, otherwise I need to write the logic again.

Unless you've copied away your file or made a backup (CD/DVD/Tape/Floppy/USB/...) it's almost impossible to restore it to it's original state. You might get lucky creating an image of that partition, running it through strings and search the output for anything usable. But that will only work if there's been (almost) no activity on the disc, and will (probably) require more time than a rewrite would.
