Cygwin Question

In a UNIX environment, files starting with a dot are "hidden". You can see them using 'ls -a' or 'ls -A' (the latter will hide the entries for the current directory ['.'] and the parent ['..'])

In bash, the dotglob option allows hidden files to be displayed in a normal expansion:

$ printf "%s\n" *
.bash_profile
.bashrc
.inputrc
$ ls
.bash_profile   .bashrc   .inputrc
