if question

Hi there,

I am trying to use an if statement where i compare two variables. I have found examples like this, but my code doesn't work!

This is my if statement:
if [ $TODAY -eq $TESTDATE ]
then

I get this error:
./POTest: test: argument expected

Can anyone help me with this?

i tried your script.....

root@pressy.ips.at # if [ $TODAY -eq $TESTDATE ]
root@pressy.ips.at > then
root@pressy.ips.at > echo "hallo"
root@pressy.ips.at > fi
hallo
root@pressy.ips.at # TODAY=34
root@pressy.ips.at # if [ $TODAY -eq $TESTDATE ]; then echo "hallo"; fi
[: 34: unary operator expected
root@pressy.ips.at #

are both VARIABLES set?

so long...
