how attached date when renaming log file

I want to rename a log file every weekend but also want to add date in the end of logfile name. How can i do that?

To put the date on the end of the file:
mv mylogfile mylogfile`date '+%m%d%Y'`

Some system processes and applications don't let go of the log file without either a restart or hup to the process.

To do this on the weekend, use crontab for the appropriate user

See man page for crontab for further info.
