Foreach loop. Error : Too many words from ``

Hi expert,

I have a large text file :-
number.txt
Code:
1
2
3
4
5
6
....

And i using csh foreach loop to read the file line by line.
Code:
foreach line(`cat number.txt)
set number = $line
<Calculation>
end

And i found out error (Too many words form ``) occurs when my file line is more than 1706 lines.
How to solve this problem? Or have another ways to write csh script?
Thank you for your helps.
CHEERS =)

Can you use while loop instead.

while read line
do
number=$line
done < number.txt

I think you missed a back quote

(`cat number.txt`)
