CSH: step on the lines in a file

Hi,

does somebody know how can I step on the lines in a file?

I would like to read a file line by line. And after every line I'd like to do other commands.

Lets help me! Smilie

amitranjansahu, thx Smilie

But could you tell me this with an example? Smilie

myfile1.dat:
ABC = 123
DEF = 000
GHI = 987

myfile2.dat:
xxxABCxxxxGHIxxx
xDEFxxxxABCxxxxx
xxxxxxxGHIxDEFxx

Well, I want to step on the lines of file2.

command 1st: search ABC / DEF / GHI
command 2nd: change this to the numbers
command 3rd: take 'yyy' string at the end of all line

How do you make it?

here's something to start with - the rest is left as an exercise.
nawk -f mig.awk file1.dat file2.dat

mig.awk
Code:
BEGIN {
  FS=" = "
}
FNR ==NR { f1[$1]=$2; next}
{
  for( i in f1)
    gsub(i, f1[i])
  print
}
