How can i test for a file exit?
How can i test for a file if it is exist in the current directory or not using test?

i try this:

if [ !test -e "${file}" ]
then echo "File not exist"
else
do somthing.......
fi

but this is not working
# 2

ls $file

if [ $? > 0 ]
then echo "File not exist"
else
do somthing.......
fi
# 3

If you want stick with test:

if test -e "${file}"
then echo "File not exist"
else
do somthing.......
fi

I prefer (-s/-f):

Code:
if [ -f /path/to/file ]; then 
   echo "File not exist"
else
   do something.......
fi

Hello; I regularly run monitoring scripts over ssh to monitoring scripts But whenever a server is hung or in maintenance mode, my script hangs..
