Error Removing ^M from a file
i have a file that has ^M character at the end of each line
there are atleast 150 files like this and i want to remove the special character(^M) .
i want a script which does this which takes filename as an argument.
Please help in this regards.

learn to use the forum search facility. Type in "remove control M" in the keyword text box.

have you tried the search function? you should be able to find the command "dos2unix" or similar, depending on your unix/linux distribution...

i am using HP-UX and i do not want to use dos2unix...
i have clearly specified as shell script..

use sed.
ex. sed 's/\^M$//g'
