how to remove -> "|"

after select from database before assign to the variable?

echo $YOURVARIABLE | sed -e 's /|//g'

echo $data_LocID_SQL | sed -e 's /|//g'

after i added the command.. still the same...

Hi,

mordor:/# data_LocID_SQL="|NTTR |"
mordor:/# echo $data_LocID_SQL | sed -e 's/|//g'
NTTR

maybe you are using again the variable without reassign it

you got "data_LocID_SQL" that is equal to |NTTR |
if you do
echo $data_LocID_SQL | sed -e 's/|//g'
you variable will still be |NTTR |
but if you write
data_LocID_SQL=$(echo $data_LocID_SQL | sed -e 's/|//g')
you'll get what you need
