Hi,
I have one text file and zip file in UNIX directory.The Zip file contains another text file.

For Ex:

Text File Name = Req_file.txt
Zip file Name= Response_file.txt_04072009_121548.gz

Zip file contains one text file that name is Response_file.txt

I want to compare the record count of both the files.
(text_file1 & text_file2 under zip file)
ie.Req_file.txt & Response_file.txt that is in zip file Response_file.txt_04072009_121548.gz

Pls give me the solution for this scenario. I need solution urgently.
It will really helpful for me getting the response AEAP.

i believe you'll have to gunzip the zip file.

wc -l $file

then does the trick.

gunzip *.gz

wc -l < text_file1 | read len_one
wc -l < text_file2 | read len_two

if [ $len_one -gt $len_two ]; then
  echo one bigger than two
else
  echo two bigger than one
fi
