PHP inserting subscriber no in text file using KSH....

SmilieDears ,

I have text file I need to insert the subscriber number at position 32, and need to keep the next field at position 53 (no increasing of the record lenght), I mean I just want to replace the spaces at position 32 with subscirber number .

for example

A B

A subno B

B should stay at the same position ...and subno is inserted at position 32 keeping same record lenght ...Please using KSH , I'm using sed but sed is changing the record lenght which makes a problem for the next process which depends on positions...

the below sed is changing the position of the next field which is wrong:

cat omer_aaa | sed -e 's#^\(.\{32\}\)\(.*\)$\1+9613001294\2#g' >omar_bbb

I want a solution for that if you please

Thanks ,
Omar Atia

nawk -v col=32 -v num='+9613001294' '{print substr($0,1,col) num substr($0,col+length(num)+1)}' omer_aaa
