How to format output

Dear all,

I have written a program which access database and displays the values returned by the query . There are 10 columns to be displayed in one row. But am ending with 5 lines displayed on 1st line and the next 5 in the 2nd line.

Ex :

21608 10-20-2007 148 Al's Appliance and Sport 2837
Greenway Fillmore FL 33336 Valerie Iron

21610 10-20-2007 356 Ferguson's 382
Wildwood Northfield FL 33146 Juan Gas Range

All the values from 21608 to Valerie Iron are to be displayed in single line.

the output statement i am using is :

printf("%s %s %s %s %s %s %s %s %s %s \n", row[0], row[1], row[2], row[3],row[4],row[5],row[6],row[7],row[8],row[9], row[10]);

Please suggest me if there is any way to format the output so that it shows up in a line.

Thanks
Uday

Code:
$ cat samplefile
21608 10-20-2007 148 Al's Appliance and Sport 2837
Greenway Fillmore FL 33336 Valerie Iron

21610 10-20-2007 356 Ferguson's 382
Wildwood Northfield FL 33146 Juan Gas Range

$ head -2 samplefile| tr "\n" " "
21608 10-20-2007 148 Al's Appliance and Sport 2837 Greenway Fillmore FL 33336 Valerie Iron

The above code will give the output in a single line...

Hi thanks for the reply,

that almost solved the problem.

But i have to get the output of the program aligned as said above.
So is there any way that i can implement the statement in c program?

Thanks

I have to print the output to the console. Output is a set of records retrieved from database using a C program.

When the program is executed (./dbprg) the output should be having the ten records in same row. But now it is showing up as follows.

21608 10-20-2007 148 Al's Appliance and Sport 2837
Greenway Fillmore FL 33336 Valerie Iron

(5 in one row and the other 5 in 2nd row)

Code:
head -2 samplefile| tr "\n" " " | sed 's/ /\n/14'

If it still dont work for you pls post a sample input file as well as output file....

Hi,

in the command given, you are specifying samplefile.
But in my case, no file is there.
(Execute the program --> Get a formatted ouptput)

If the program is executed, the output should be formatted and printed.

So am looking for a solution that is present in the program.
But the command you sent is to modify once the output is printed.

So my question is can we impement that command in c program?
