I wrote a script that will do certain things based on the the scriptfiles in a specific directory.

now the problem here is that this script is only operating on my script file in the directory instead of all the files as directed by a for loop similar to this:

for scripts in /root/direc
do
if [ -f $scripts ]
then
exec scripts &
fi
done

what my for loop is doing is its only performing the operation on one script instead of all the scripts. Please help

You need to read the whole directory into the for loop. I omitted the if/fi code because it seemed redundant. Any files 'ls /root/direc' finds obviously exist...

Code:

for scripts in `ls /root/direc`
do
exec scripts &
done

There might be subdirectories that would be skipped by a -f test. Or named pipes, sockets, special files, ....
