What if you wanted to access your a computer over the internet, but it was on a lan too (it's ip is spit up by a router).... username@ip_address wouldn't work would it?

try it with single quotes... like this echo '\\\\' (this seems to work in bash.... haven't tested it in other shells)

how do you alias a command... Like say I wanted kitten to exicute the command whoami. how would I do that?

Does a unix compiler come standard on Darwin or do you have to DL one. What programing langauge do you write it in... I know on MS-Dos its a bash file that just uses dos commands, but I keep hearing...
