I have a file which contains a line like this, and my sed command keeps failing.
grep "#wxBlk/JTwIZNXUim7HzzyCwkzzw#

I need to replace the zzw# at the end of the line with " $DAACFILE | grep...

I have tried another method, and believe I have it working. I'll post what I've done once I know it's worked.

yep, I tried /bin/sh, /bin/ksh and /bin/bash none of which worked :-( (all had same error)

Now getting `IP=$' unexpected

Is the code you've given me specific to a shell type or OS ??

How do I tell if I'm using GNU date?? The response when I run this is

date: illegal option -- d
usage: date [-u] mmddHHMM[[cc]yy][.SS]
date [-u] [+format]
date -a...

example line from logfile set to GMT:

01/22/2006 05:41:51 10.224.200.235 \\10.176.45.16\live\3x\mtv\co\vid\AdultShop.3gp

Unfortunately the other log set to GMT+10 looks more like :

2006...
