Microsoft SFU doesn't include an X server. Nor does UWin. Cygwin does include one, however.

MS SFU doesn't handle UNC names I believe - you have to map any network location to a drive letter.

XLiveCD sounds good: it uses Cygwin. Cygwin is free, and includes an X server.

Make sure you install every package you need: there are lots now - maybe 1.5GB of software!
