Ok, i finally found the pkg_add command. i got all the .tgz's in the same spot, and unpacked them all. However, when i try to run gnome, it doesnt work. I get this:

pc# gnome-session
...

in the gnome dir, there is a +INSTALL, and a +README, they're both files, but if i try and vi them, it spits up a blank document. what am i doing wrong?

i only know about this from a windblows point of view, and that is that i reckon they use a fat16/32 file system on the disk. the file system part of the format is probably what is taking the space...

i found that mount_cd9660 /dev/cd0a /mnt/cdrom worked for me, but i think you need to do a mkdir for the cdrom part of it. but thats on openbsd, so that could be a difference.

I'm in much the same boat as you here, but by many, many attemps at working with TAR0s and .TGZs, i've found a process that works for me.
