I installed the sendemail program for commandline/script outgoing mail. It works great. I was wondering if there is some simple program to receive mail. Something like the sendemail...

Well... this is the way I did..
I bought 4 old PC's (30 euro each). Installed Ubuntu server, FreeBSD, Red Hat 6, Solaris 8. Connect and go! No VMware... lots of fun :-)

The Ubuntu L+F is empty, and the FreeBSD doesn't have a L+F at all in / (yet). So I guess all is well for now. You're right about the UPS. Even for study only set up.:cool:

I have a problem with the SV R4 install.
During the floppy2 procedure I get the message that I allocated less than 35 Mb for UNIX. It's a clean install, no other OS. Just a clean PC...

I use ee..
$ ee -i filename

Is this one in the list (another name) ?

Yep... those were the days. If I'm correct there were 10 floppies for the base install. We had the feeling that we were administrating some super computer though haha...

I'm new on this great forum. In 1990 I did a course UNIX system admin. I remember that we used a minicomputer with 15 terminals. My question is..what were the hardware requirements...
