DukeNuke, i get same message:

emc: ../admin 182> ifconfig bge1 10.200.13.98 netmask 255.255.0.0 up
ifconfig: SIOCSLIFNETMASK: bge1: permission denied

yes, i'm root user. In fact i could change it before, but as the changes are not permanent, after some server reboot, changes were lost.

Actually, subnet is 255.255.255.0 and i want to change it to 255.255.0.0. I will explore on that CIDR thing you are mentioning.
