thanks.. been playing around with this. the line...

ls -l / | grep '^d' | awk '{print $5, $1, $2, $8, $9}'

which give me pretty much the output I want but the fields are not lined...

another cal command question.
I got this from this board yesterday

cal | xargs -n1 | tail -1 which displays the current months days.. for instance if you type this in a shell today you will get 31.

hi all

searched google and here, cant find and am begining to suspect there is no options for this.

shell = born

with either the date or cal command I need to display the number of days...
