But the output to your code yields:
3 6 9
1 4 7
2 5 8

So i just fiddled with it a bit and came up with

1 4 7
2 5 8
3 6 9

using awk...

Did use | perl -lpe'$\=$.%3?$":"\n"' , but it doesnt give me the matrix i want.
