No, alias by itself doesn't show me anything

we're using ksh, I believe. When I do . .profile, I still get the permission denied. In the .profile file, there is this line:

export ENV=$HOME/.kshrc # execute .kshrc for all new shells

Here's something I just did to check:

alias csp="cd /data/Apps"

I got no error. When I typed csp after that, I got "Command not found"
