The Sun Solaris x86 system seemed to accept my username and password when I do SSH, but then the login prompt went away or hang. What happened?

i running amanda on solaris 10.
i using inet instead of xinet. on solaris i don't think there will be xinetd.d conf file.

how and where can i grep the device path?

i got this error message when trying to run amcheck on solaris 10 (sparc).

cause i connecting an usb modem to the solaris 10 box.
i wanna connect it through minicom to do some simple AT command.

back to ubuntu, the dmesg is direct. but in solaris 10, i kinda lost.

when i connecting an usb device to a ubuntu box. i know its on /dev/ttyUSB0 port from dmesg. and i can do simple command with minicom connect to the port.

i know it can be done with edit .login on normal user
but how about root?
