VirtualBox solution.
I will add a plus on the VirtualBox suggestion. I find that vmware is superior on servers still but VirtualBox does better on workstations and particularly on Sun x86 and on Intel Apple MacOSX.

Cron has a very limited env. You need to specify any PATH info explicitly either in the command line of a command like /usr/local/bin/xxx or by including a PATH line in your script.
