i used to think that the K had something to do with the byte size, but now i don't know what the K stands for.

i'd say the majority of them are 2K files,
but sometimes they are 4K.

or in MB:

12.1 or 24.2

the sequence is named like:

name.0001.sgi - name.1000.sgi

and sometimes during a mget or mput i get the "alarm clock" so i have around 700 of the files where i need them, and 300...

i did check out rsync, but it is too volitile for what i do. i transfer huge amounts of data and will run into memory issues with rsync.
