i mounted /usr and got access to 'vi' and also 'passwd' changed the root pass and logged in. Here a short guide on how to do when or if the problem arises for somebody else:

Now i got a singel user root prompt, but passwd cant be executed, vi/vim dosnt exists, ed does but i know %^*@ how to use it.
Any advice?

Think i tried that but im gonna boot it up and try again, but after what i remember it came up asking for password once again.

i tried following from bootprom(or whatever its called on dec systems)

passwd -c
passwd -s
new Password: ********
Retype new Password: ********
boot

But that didnt change the password.

?couldn't load s

I got myself a dec 5100 running ultrix with unknow password, how do i recover or change the root password on it?
