while installing a few common packages, why
files already exist on non-writable drive or somthing...

is there a way to check for installed packages that
give me command...

first i was going to set up BerkeleyDB and when

can anyone point me towards a program to list what's installed on my sunOS box and their version numbers.

Currently have sendmail 8.6.? running on sunOS 5.7
(I only have remote access to the server)
- the sendmail.cf file says its a ultrix 4 build (I don't know why)
- got the new sendmail archive and...

I'm a newbie trying to update an old sendmail 8.6 to 8.12.3

ftp'ed sendmail.org and got sendmail.8.12.3.tar.gz

file size matches but when i:
tar xvf sendmail.8.12.3.tar.gz

i get:
tar:...

how do i limit access for users so that they can only login via FTP and can only view/make changes to their own directories only.
